What Would Putting Yourself First

Look Like This Month?

In July, I went to Bali after an incredibly busy season in my life. I had been working, supporting others, managing responsibilities and constantly moving from one thing to the next.
Like so many women, I had become very good at taking care of everything and everyone around me. But somewhere along the way, I had stopped checking in with myself. Bali gave me the space to slow down.

To breathe.

To step away from the noise and remember who I was outside of my responsibilities.

And what surprised me most was that reconnecting with myself did not require a complete reinvention.

It happened through small moments.

Walking along the beach.

Sitting quietly without needing to rush anywhere.

Eating slowly.

Resting without feeling guilty.

Listening to what I actually needed.

By the time I returned home, I felt clearer, calmer and more connected to myself.

You do not need to go to Bali

A beautiful trip can create space, but putting yourself first does not have to involve getting on a plane or leaving your everyday life behind.

It can begin with one honest question:

What do I need right now?

When you are navigating separation, your attention is often pulled in every direction.

The children need you.

The legal process needs your attention.

The finances need to be organised.

Your former partner may still take up far too much emotional space.

Your own needs can quickly become the last thing on the list.

But putting yourself first is not selfish.

It is how you begin rebuilding your strength, clarity and confidence.

What could putting yourself first look like?

It may look like:

  • Saying no without overexplaining

  • Creating firmer communication boundaries

  • Asking someone for help

  • Booking an appointment you have been avoiding

  • Spending time near the beach

  • Resting without trying to earn it first

  • Making a decision based on what is right for you

  • Doing something that helps you feel like yourself again

It does not need to be dramatic.

It just needs to be intentional.

Start with one small promise to yourself

You do not need to change your entire life this month.

Choose one thing.

One boundary you will protect.

One hour you will keep for yourself.

One decision you will stop postponing.

One activity that makes you feel grounded, energised or free.

For me, Bali was a reminder that I had not lost myself.

I had simply been too busy to hear myself clearly.

Perhaps this month can be your opportunity to listen again.

Our September Re-Charge retreat is now sold out, but you can join the waitlist to be the first to hear about our next retreats and workshops.

Because sometimes the first step towards your next chapter is simply choosing to come back to yourself.
