Are you keeping the peace or abandoning yourself?

You tell yourself you are keeping the peace.
So you say yes.
Again.

You agree to the change of plans. You apologise when you are not even sure what you are apologising for. You rewrite the message five times because you are worried about how they will react.

And sometimes you say nothing at all because you simply do not have the energy for another argument.

I get it.

Sometimes it really does feel easier to give in.

But if you are always the one bending, accommodating and swallowing what you really want to say, it is worth asking:

Am I keeping the peace — or am I abandoning myself?

Start with the pause

You do not need to become confrontational.
You do not need to suddenly start saying no to everything.
Just stop answering immediately.
Before you agree, ask yourself:

Do I actually want this?

Is this reasonable for me?

Am I saying yes because I agree — or because I am scared of the reaction?

That pause can change a lot.

Try shorter answers

You do not need to explain yourself into exhaustion.
Sometimes all you need is:

That does not work for me.
I need some time to think about that.
I am happy to consider another option.

No essay. No over-explaining. No automatic apology.

Peace should include you too

Real peace is not walking on eggshells.

It is not making yourself smaller to keep someone else calm.
So the next time you catch yourself thinking, It is easier if I just agree, stop and ask:

Easier for who?
